Teen Aircraft Factory of Manasota (TAFM)
The EAA180 Teen Build Program
Join TAFM
The Teen Aircraft Factory of Manasota (TAFM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Sarasota, Florida. In co-operation with the Experimental Aircraft Association, local Chapter 180 (EAA180), the TAFM sponsors a program to provide interested teens from the community to expand their aviation interests and to participate in the construction of a Van’s Aircraft Co. RV-12 kit airplane.
Each Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon, TAFM is building a full size, two passenger kit aircraft with the labor for the build provided by the students enrolled in the program. These students perform the work under the supervision of mentors who are members of EAA180. After the students complete the build out, those that are interested will be offered flight instruction in the aircraft that they helped build.

We have two side-by-side hangars at the Sarasota Bradenton Airport, where we perform all our work. Our hangar is located on the North East side of the airport and is accessible through the Retrix North gates. Since the airport area is a secure area, access is limited to escorted tours. The hangar is equipped with all of the parts, tools and equipment needed to execute the building process.
